Profile Growing Solutions Strengthens Team with Promotions and Key Hires

Profile® Products is making strategic moves within its Profile® Growing Solutions (PGS) business to better serve customers and align with the growth of the company. As part of this initiative, the company has promoted three of its leaders and welcomed three new hires, further enhancing its team to drive continued success.

Wes Martin has been promoted to senior vice president of Profile Growing Solutions, where he will oversee the strategic direction and ongoing expansion of the business. Brian Patterson has taken on a new role as vice president of North America sales, where he will be responsible for sales across the PGS portfolio. Patterson and his team will focus on strengthening customer relationships and driving sales growth across the region. Nathan Carney has been promoted to sales manager for blenders and mushroom growers. In this role, Carney will manage key accounts and ensure customer needs are met as the PGS business continues to grow in this sector.

“These promotions are part of our ongoing strategy to strengthen our leadership team and enhance our ability to serve our customers effectively,” said Shane Porzio, president and CEO of Profile Products. “As Profile Growing Solutions continues to grow, it’s essential we have the right people in place to lead us forward. With this team, we are well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of our customers and drive continued success for Profile Products.”

Profile Products has also expanded its team with the addition of three new hires. Jon Sperry will serve as senior director of marketing and business development, and Shane Hutto and Cade Boyd will join the team as equipment and substrate technicians.

In his role, Sperry will lead the marketing, product management and strategic marketing teams for Profile Growing Solutions. Sperry previously held positions as the vice president of Vantage Food and director of global marketing and product management at Lanxess.

“Jon’s extensive experience in marketing and product management, coupled with his strategic vision, will play a crucial role in growing our horticulture business,” Martin said. “Jon’s leadership will be key as we continue to strengthen our market position and deliver exceptional value to our customers.”

As equipment and substrate technicians, Hutto and Boyd will work directly in the field to support Profile’s grower and blender initiatives. Hutto holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in horticulture with a minor in soil science from Oklahoma State University. Before joining Profile, Hutto held various horticulture roles focused on cultivation and automation, as well as technical positions with companies like Cresco and Grodan.

“Shane’s deep knowledge of horticulture and his hands-on experience with cultivation technologies make him an exceptional addition to our team,” Carney said. “His ability to bridge the gap between technical expertise and practical application will greatly enhance our support to growers and blenders.”

Boyd holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in horticulture from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining Profile, Boyd worked as a grower at Metrolina Greenhouses and Lennon Farms. Most recently he served as a product manager for Adept Ag/AgriNomix, where he was highly involved with HydraFiber® processing equipment.

“Adding Cade to our team is a strategic move as we align our resources with the growth of our business,” Carney said. “His background in both engineering and horticulture makes him a perfect fit for our team.”

14 Distributors Recognized at Profile Products’ Annual Awards Banquet

Several distributors were celebrated at Profile Products’ annual awards banquet, which was held in February during the International Erosion Control Association Conference. This exclusive event serves as a celebration of achievement and innovation within the industry, recognizing the exceptional contributions professionals have made throughout the year.

“Distributors work day in and day out to find the best solutions to projects that impact communities throughout the world,” said Adam Dibble, CPESC, CESSWI, vice president of environmental solutions at Profile®. “Their passion and hard work continue to move the industry forward, and these awards are just one way to recognize that.”

This year’s “Project of the Year” award recipients are Pacific Restoration Group, Inc. and Hanes Geo Components for their work restoring the San Dieguito Lagoon Wetland just north of San Diego, California. The area is one of California’s most sensitive coastal wetlands. Formerly used for agriculture, the project was centered around restoring the saltwater wetlands, enhancing and maintaining the natural flood control channel, and mitigating impacts of a bridge widening project. The team hydraulically applied ProGanics® DUAL™, a biotic soil technology to rejuvenate the lagoon embankments and flood plain areas to regrow native species. Within months of project completion, project success was evident with flourishing vegetation.

Additionally, this year’s “International Project of the Year” award winners are Goodrich Environmental and Evergreen Landcare for their work restoring a gold mine in Reefton, New Zealand. The Reefton Mine is located next to Victoria Forest Park, the largest conservatory park in the country. After closing in 2016, the mining company agreed to restore the area. The team hydraulically applied ProGanics® and Profile® Wood High Performance Mulch by helicopter and truck to revegetate the steep slopes and cliffs. Since the project began, the restoration efforts have proved effective with the establishment of new freshwater lakes, growth of native trees and movement of wildlife back into the area.

“Project of the Year” award winners are selected based on the size and scope of the project, the quantity and variety of Engineered Specified Products (ESPs) used, the effort required to write the specifications and the amount and severity of obstacles to overcome.

“This year’s winning projects demonstrated two outstanding uses of our erosion control suite to restore and revitalize land that would otherwise be brushed aside as a loss,” said Wally Butman, vice president of international sales for Profile.
